Continue feeding the beast, or take control back with targeted social media marketing - your choice.



So, one of the major real estate portals announces a new service where it will charge agents for the pleasure and despite the negative response from agents - what are you prepared to do about it?


Over the weekend I noticed a post on Facebook where a screen shot of a letter/email was sent from one of the portals to an agent letting them know about a new service called Agent Match & yes, another fee attached.


It didn’t take long before the negative responses started filling up the comments section.


Everything from feeding the beast, they have a monopoly, we’ve brought this on ourselves and it goes on.


The scary part is - I see & hear this everyday BUT what are you going to do about it?


We have been so conditioned to rely solely on these two major portals that you feel you have no other alternative when it comes to marketing your listings.


Why though? Why are agents just not getting it?


Social media is no longer about selfies, it’s business.


I’ll say it once again, if you are not taking social media seriously and using it correctly YOU ARE GOING TO LOSE.

I say it to every single one of my clients. If you are not using social media correctly you are going to continue to be at the major portal’s mercy.


Social media marketing is fast becoming the number 1 platform to market your listings on.


It’s cheaper (now) then the major portals but that will change soon enough and the agents/agencies not currently using it are the ones who will be forced to pay top dollar to breakthrough. Why wouldn’t you be using portals such as Facebook & Instagram where you can tailor your campaigns and put your brand or listings in front of the very people you want seeing you.


Homeowners are not surfing these portals everyday but guess where they are……...


You got it, they are on Facebook & Instagram EVERY SINGLE DAY.






There are so many agents & agencies out there who do such a great job listing and selling property yet they completely fall down in this space.


Unless you are prepared to back yourself and make changes then continue paying top dollar to keep up with everyone else.


I mean, why would you want to pay top dollar on other platforms to be a leader when you can “keep up with everyone else”?







Don’t let me try and convince you though. Let’s look at some results. Below is a screen shot of a campaign we ran earlier in the year.


This was taken right before the three-week campaign ended for our client.


Ad spend – It was a total of $300 but here we see $293.11c.

Impressions – Just over 33,605 ads were created

Reach – 21,682 people within 5 km's of this property saw the listing

Link clicks – 687 people saw the advert on Facebook & Instagram and went to the listing on the agent’s webpage for more information.




Let me ask you one thing.
